Description
wpDiscuz Syntax Highlighter is an add-on for the wpDiscuz commenting plugin. It renders source code posted in comments as formatted, highlighted code blocks via the highlight.js JavaScript library. Commenters insert code with the [] code toolbar button, and admins choose which languages and highlighting styles are active.
Key Features
- highlight.js rendering – Comment code is displayed as formatted source code through the highlight.js JavaScript library.
- Wide language support – The add-on covers a long list of programming languages, from PHP and JavaScript to SQL, Swift and Shell.
- Code toolbar button – Commenters add code through a [] button in the comment editor.
- Language and style settings – From the dashboard you can turn individual programming languages on or off and switch the highlighting style.
- Copy button – A copy button lets readers take the displayed code from the comment.
- Multiple highlight styles – The add-on ships with many different syntax highlighting styles to pick from.
- Requires wpDiscuz 7.0.0 – It runs as an add-on on top of wpDiscuz and needs at least version 7.0.0 of that plugin.
Who Is It For
This add-on is for sites already running the wpDiscuz commenting plugin where readers discuss technical topics and need to share code in comments. It suits site owners and administrators who want control over which languages and highlighting styles appear in their comment threads.
