Description

WooCommerce Distance Rate Shipping is a WooCommerce plugin that calculates delivery charges from how far away the customer is, or from the total travel time to their address. You can also add charges based on the cart's total weight, total value, or number of items. It is aimed at stores that handle their own deliveries.

Key Features

  • Distance-based rates – Delivery prices are worked out from the distance between your store or dispatch point and the customer's address, so rates differ by location.
  • Travel time rates – Instead of raw mileage, you can base the rate on how long the drive to the customer takes, which suits businesses where traffic and road access matter.
  • Weight, value, items – Rules can take the cart's weight, its total value, or the number of items into account alongside distance or travel time.
  • Advanced rule logic – In Advanced Mode you can combine several conditions with AND/OR logic, for example free delivery inside a radius for customers who spend above a set amount.
  • Free local delivery – A rule can charge nothing for orders inside a chosen distance and apply normal charges beyond it.
  • Maximum delivery range – You can cap the distance so the method only appears for addresses inside your delivery area, and customers outside it are told delivery is unavailable.
  • Google Maps requirement – The plugin relies on Google Maps and the Distance Matrix API, so a Google account with an API key and billing enabled is needed, and some of those services are paid.

Who Is It For

It suits businesses that deliver their own goods or services and want the fee to reflect the real trip, such as equipment hire companies, takeaway and home-cooked meal services, furniture sellers, and local delivery operations. It is a poor fit when pricing comes from carrier rates, geographic zones, or fixed rate tables rather than travel distance.
