Description

The Flexible Content Field is an add-on for Advanced Custom Fields that gives content editors a blank canvas for assembling pages. Layouts are defined ahead of time as groups of sub fields, and editors can add as many of them as they need and place them in any order. It is now distributed as part of ACF PRO rather than as a separate plugin.

Key Features

  • Add unlimited layouts – Editors can place as many layout blocks onto a page as they need, without a fixed limit.
  • Control layout order – The order of the added layouts is decided by the editor, so sections can be rearranged freely.
  • Reusable layout groups – Each layout is a predefined group of sub fields that can be inserted wherever it is wanted.
  • Sub field output – Values stored in a layout's sub fields are retrieved and displayed with the standard ACF field functions.
  • Included in ACF PRO – The field is no longer sold on its own; it ships inside the ACF PRO plugin.

Who Is It For

This is aimed at WordPress developers and site builders who use Advanced Custom Fields and want clients or content editors to compose pages from predefined sections. It suits projects where page structure varies from page to page and editors should arrange blocks themselves instead of relying on fixed page templates.
